I've read that they can shed at any time of the year. Including the times that they blow their coats - it can vary. Right now Apollo is shedding a lot but I can't tell if he's technically blowing his coat or not. He has no patches where the fur is sparse. Maybe it's because he's a weirdo husky wooly coat.

Lee, I never think of buying on ebay! I bet it's a good investment.

In my opinion the Furminator is excellent and Polee loves it too.  As she can be grumpy when she's shedding I thought I would help her by trying a Furminator, as recommended by friends and I'm glad I did.  Polee is also going to the groomers on Monday but this is more as a treat for her as she loves going because they make such a fuss of her.

I may just have been lucky upto now but I've never had any problems buying on ebay and have even bought a car using it.

Bought a car!?!?!? I've heard of that before but wow!

Our Jazz has starter to shed the coat and its a nightmare... we brush her every other day and it looks like we shered a sheep???.. See pic atached!!!

Im ok with it as I know it only happens once or twice a year... but the partner hates it... because she like a atomic hair bomb if she shakes...

but in saying that this is brush to get if you need one... I just like the name!... FURMINATOR! LOL

yeah the furminator rules.  I tried it on my friends dog and he let me brush him for ages were previously 1 minute of brushing is all he would tolerate.

I wish I had a picture of this, but a guy and his girlfriend that frequent our local dog park shaved their 9 month old husky, and left the hair on his head long, as well as a ridiculous mohawk down his back. The poor babies' coat was all screwed up around his legs. They also have a puppy that is Achilles' age. Should I have said something to them? I hate it when people come up to me acting like they know what's good for my dogs. (Some cranker that worked at petsmart tried to tell me I needed to shave Apollo)

I wish owners of animals wouldn't treat them like fashion accessories.  I assume that the owners also had 'distinctive' hairstyles and if so they would have chosen them the poor dog had no such choice.

A Husky should never be shaved except for medical emergencies as shaving can result in other problems.  (see the article from siberescue for further information http://www.sibrescue.com/tip-shave.html)

Shaving a husky, or even thinking about it, is just ridiculous

I've been told by many husky owners that shaving your husky will only do them harm... there coat is designed to keep them cool and well as warm... as well as protect them agains harmful rays from the sun!!!... I would have said something to the owners who shaved there husky!... morrons!!!
